3. Affiliate Marketing: What You Need To Get Started

Last update:

In the previous videos I talked about what affiliate marketing is and the mindset you need to succeed.

Now I want to talk about the things you need to get started.

The whole idea of this course was to make it super easy for people to learn and show you how to do it all with minimal costs, which leads me to this…

You do need some money to invest in certain things through out the course but you won’t need much, in fact, I recommend only buying the bare necessities and not worry about fancy tools or complicated programs in the beginning.

All you really need to get started, is time and around $100 for the following..

  • Domain Name: This is for the name of your website so people can find you online. ($9 per year)
  • Website Hosting: This is for hosting your website so it can be displayed online. (Around $70 – $90 per year)
  • Email Autoresponder: (Optional but recommended) This will allow you to build an email list so you can continue promoting your website or affiliate offers to those email subscribers. Most offer a free 1 month trial or free for the first X amount of subscribers.

This will allow you to create your own live website that you can start adding content to and also start collecting peoples email.

Creating your own website isn’t as hard as you may think, I will be showing you how easy it actually is in an up coming video.

In this course, I will be walking you through each step so you can build your own affiliate website that hopefully makes you passive income.

The websites we will be building are going to be assets that you can either keep or sell for 10 – 36 times monthly revenue.

So it’s important to take your time, do things right and keep it simple.

You Need To Know What You’re Making Your Website About?

Before buying your domain name you’re going to need to know what your website is going to be about and you’ll also need to find products to promote as an affiliate.

You will also need to join affiliate programs which I will talk more about in the next video.

NEVER pay to join an affiliate program, they are free and if you’re asked to pay to join – forget it!

I will also be covering things like market research and keyword research so if you don’t have an idea for your website at the moment that’s ok, I will be talking more about this later in the course.

To get started, write down on a piece of paper some things you may enjoy writing about or something you’re passionate about.

You don’t have to be an expert on the topics but it definitely makes it easier if you have an understanding or some kind of interest in the topic..

Once you have a few topics written down it will be easier to make your decision when we start digging deeper into market and keyword research.

You Need Content My Friend

Through out this course I will be talking a lot about writing content.

If you don’t like writing articles, reviews or any type of content then you either need to force yourself to just write OR you can hire a writer.

If you’re just starting out, I highly recommend having a go at this and just write your content yourself.

Hiring a writer can be great if you find a good writer but if you can write it yourself you will save money and copywriting is a great skill set to have.

Also, you don’t have to be perfect at writing, spelling or grammar. There are free tools that you can use such as paperrater.com to correct any mistakes.

The main thing you need to learn is how to help your readers find a solution to their problem or give answers to questions they might be searching for.

I will be teaching you how I write my content in a later video and if you get stuck you can always refer to these pages below to get some ideas flowing:

This Takes Time, Work And Consistency

Creating these types of websites takes time and you will at times feel like you’re getting no where.

Hopefully by following this course you won’t feel this way, but just be aware it does take time and work.

So, try and set aside a few hours a day to work on your website and try and get into a routine of regularly taking action and doing things that help you move forward everyday.

At the end of the course I will include a Daily To Do List.

That way you can refer to it when you get stuck and don’t know what to do.

Okay, that’s really all you need to get started. It might sound all foreign to you at the moment but as you go through each video it will come to you, trust me…
