How to use this calculator:
- Main Keyword Searches: Your ‘Main Keyword’ is the main keyword you want to rank your page for. This is also known as your focus keyword. Enter the estimated monthly search volume for your main keyword. You can get this from kwfinder.com or by installing the keywordseverywhere.com tool.
- Longtail Searches (est): You’re ‘Longtail Searches’ is an estimate of other related keywords that you’re trying to rank for aside from your main keyword. These are longtail keywords of 3 or more words. You can find this using the same tools. I also have a blog post about finding longtail keywords here.
- Average SERP position: This is the position you’re hoping to rank for. This will give you a rough idea of what kind of traffic that position/rank will bring in. Keep in mind that the top 3 results get the majority of the traffic in search results.
- Visit Affiliate Link %: Enter the click through percentage to your affiliate link. This is a percentage of your visitors who click on your affiliate links.
- Conversion rate %: The conversion rate is how many of those affiliate link clicks convert into sales. Depending on the traffic, I always try and achieve at least 1 sale in 100 affiliate link clicks. Again, this will depend on the type of traffic but if I’m not making sales in 100 clicks I normally tweak my page until I do.
- Purchase Price: This is the price of the product you’re promoting.
- Commission %: This is the commission rate or percentage a company is going to pay you for each sale you refer. Each affiliate program will differ but if you’re promoting Amazon products here’s their commission structure https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/help/operating/policies.
